Creating a reversing batch and automatically match it against an existing one

In Safe Financials, batches may sometimes be posted in error or need to be reversed. You can manually create an adjusting batch, but the system also allows you to automatically generate a reversing batch. This article explains how to create a duplicate batch with reversed signs and how to enable signed entries if required.

Creating a Duplicate Batch With Reverse Signs

If the transaction type allows signed entries, you can automatically generate a reversing batch.

Steps

  1. Open Safe Financials.

  2. Go to the Sales Ledger or Purchase Ledger.

  3. Select Postings and locate the batch to be reversed.

  4. Right‑click in the batch details and select Generate Duplicate Batch.

  5. In the Reverse Signs dropdown, select Yes.

  6. If you want the system to automatically match the transactions, set Auto Match to Yes.

  7. Click Apply to generate the reversing batch.

Enabling Signed Entry for a Transaction Type

If the Reverse Signs option is unavailable, the transaction type may not allow signed entries. This must be enabled before proceeding.

Steps

  1. Open Safe Financials and go to the System Admin module.

  2. Select Setup.

  3. Locate and open Transaction Types.

  4. Find the required transaction type.

  5. Right‑click the transaction type and select Modify Record.

  6. Set Allowed Signed Entry to Yes.

  7. Click Apply to save the changes.

Once enabled, users will be able to enter signed transactions and create reversing batches.
