Error: 'Locked by other allocation' when adding transactions to a payment run

When you try to add transactions to a payment run, the error 'Locked by other allocation' may appear and prevent the transactions from being added. This happens because an open allocation session contains that transaction. To check, look at the **Flags** column on the transaction — you'll see an 'L' which, when hovered over, shows the tooltip 'Transaction Locked by Allocation Session'. To find this flag:

  1. Open Financials to the Toolbar.

  2. Click Sales/Purchase Ledger.

  3. Select Customers/Suppliers.

  4. Click the Transactions tab.

  5. Locate the affected Transaction.

  6. Scroll to the right until the Flags column shows.

  7. Look for an 'L' in the Flags column.

If this then shows then the transactions Allocation Session will need to be discarded. To do this follow the below:

  1. Follow previous steps 1-7.

  2. Right-click on the Transaction.

  3. Select Allocation or use hotkeys (Ctrl + Shift + A).

  4. In the top half of the screen, right-click in the Header and select Take Control. This will move the Allocation Session into your ownership.

  5. Right-click in the Header and select Discard Session. A dialog appears.

  6. Click Yes. Discarding the Session will delete it and free up the transaction to be added to the Payment Run or new allocation session.

  7. Repeat steps 2 to 6 for any further Transactions.

  8. Go to Payment Runs or Allocation Session and add the required transactions to it.
