Checking Path Names

The Path Names set locations for various export/import locations that the system uses e.g. BAC'S Electronic File Generation Default Location. If unsure of what some of the fields are, scroll down to the Key at the bottom of this article.

To view these Path Names and the Locations they relate to follow the below steps:

  1. Open Financials to the Toolbar.

  2. Select the System Admin Module.

  3. Open Set-up.

  4. Browse to Path Names.

  5. Locate the required Path Name.

  6. Click onto the Company tab.

  7. Locate the relevant line for the company in question.

To Edit a Path Name (Will be required if locations are changed, e.g. if the BAC's files need to be saved in a different location to the present one) follow the below steps:

  1. Open Financials to the Toolbar.

  2. Select the System Admin Module.

  3. Open Set-up.

  4. Browse to Path Names.

  5. Locate the required Path Name.

  6. Right Click then select Modify Record.

  7. Change the required details either in the Main or Company tab.

  8. Click Apply to save these changes.

To Create a new Path Name (These are usually created on initial implementation so this shouldn't be required unless one has been deleted) follow the below:

  1. Open Financials to the Toolbar.

  2. Select the System Admin Module.

  3. Open Set-up.

  4. Browse to Path Names.

  5. Locate the required Path Name.

  6. Right Click then select Modify Record.

  7. Right Click again and Create Record.

  8. Enter the Required details in both the Main and Company tabs.

  9. Click Apply to save the New Record.

Key

Main tab:

  • Path Number: Some Functions use specific Path Numbers to do various processes. e.g. Where to store a Supplier Export

  • Description: A short Description of what the Path is for. e.g. Path 331 is for Excel Statement Logos

  • Content Type: This drop-down defines what kind of Path this is based on the below options.

  • Content Type-Temporary: Location for where files are Temporarily written whilst being viewed before being deleted. e.g. Directory Lookup Temp Files

  • Content Type-Processing: Location for files that are being processed. e.g. Temporary storage area for Emails

  • Content Type-Document: Locations for specific files. e.g. The file path and file name for a Logo Bitmap for Bottom of page

  • Content Type-Arguments: Where it completes a Function itself. e.g. Invoicing PDFS on another Server (the notes usually explain these)

  • Content Type-Location: Static Location of files. e.g. Default area path

  • Content Type-Other: Any other form of content. e.g. VSIFAX Server Logfiles

  • Automatic Set-up: Whether the Setup Wizards should try to populate it.

  • Automatic Tidy Up: Tidies Directory of files stamped by session on logout of the application

  • Default Directory: The absolute Default for all Companies unless set otherwise in the Company tab.

  • Thread Associations: Links to application threads (As defined by the Thread Configuration in Setup) for configuration cross-referencing.

  • Location Relevant: Whether different Paths are stored for different store Locations/Branches

  • Bespoke Function set: A flag that this Path is only relevant to specific Bespoke site logic.

  • Note On Usage: Any Notes that are relevant to this Path should be placed here. e.g. Explanation of how to define the Argument.


Company Tab:

  • Company: The Company Code relating to this specific line. e.g. 001

  • Qualifier: To differentiate between different Paths on the same Company. e.g. Purch or Sales

  • Location: To differentiate between different Locations within the same Company. e.g. Location 2 in company 001

  • Path name: The Path to the Location e.g. C:\Safe\Financials\Payment Runs\Electronic Files
