Error - 'Period number outside of valid range for this year'

This error can occur when either posting a journal ot performing the Nominal Year End process. It means that the Calendar for the Year or Period you are entering into or posting into, does not exist. For example, if you are trying to Post to a New Year of 2022 Period 1 but your Calendar does not have 2022 setup at all, you will receive this error.

To resolve this issue:

  1. From the Toolbar, click System Admin, Setup, Calendars

  2. Check if the year you wish you use is setup.

  3. If not, right-click and select Create Record

  4. Enter the Calendar Number and Year information, along with your Period End Dates

If, on Step 2, the Calendar for the year you wish to use does exist then it might be the Calendar that your Nominal ledger specifically is trying to use that does not have 2022 setup. To check this follow the below:

  1. From the Toolbar, click System Admin, Setup, Company Details

  2. On the Nominal tab, what Uses Calendar number is being used? Does that Calendar have 2022 (in this example).
