Correct an imbalance between the Nominal Control and Ledger Control

If you notice there is an imbalance between the Nominal Control and Ledger Control report of a penny (1p or 0.01) it is likely a rounding error in the system where one of the transactions has come across to the Ledger side with information to 4 decimal places, but the Nominal side was rounded to 2 decimal places.

As there is no efficient way to track this down it is generally advised that for a rounding error you raise a Journal for the one penny difference. This Journal should target both the Control Account and the Write Off account for the two sides of the journal.

Since Ledger Control accounts are defined as Controls they are likely protected, you will need to unprotect the account to post to it.

If the value is greater than a penny and doesn't appear to be a rounding issue, please search the Portal for guidance regarding larger imbalances or please contact us and reference the title of this article and please include details of the amounts and accounts affected.
