Error: 'A connection cannot be made' in XLCubed

This error often includes an IP address or server name that XLCubed is failing to connect to. Contact your IT team to check whether the server hosting the XLCubed database is online.

The server may be offline and will need to be restarted to re-establish the connection.

The security settings on the server may also have changed — the connection details in Excel may need to be updated to allow access to the SQL Server data. Your IT team can provide the required permissions.

The server IP address or name may have changed and the connection will need to point to the new location. To update the connection details in Excel:

  1. Click the **XLCubed** tab.

  2. Then select Connections.

  3. This shows all recent connections. Select **New Connections**.

  4. Populate the new connection with the required details.

  5. Click **Connect**.
